MEET YOUR THERAPIST
Hi there, I’m Isabelle.
I want you to know that I have been where you are. I won’t sugarcoat it — therapy is hard. Reaching out for therapy is hard. Should you decide to take that first step though, it can be life-changing. Where you are now vs where you will be in 3 months, 6 months, or a year could be night and day.
Integrating therapy into your life can be part of your self-care routine — giving yourself that 1 hour aside from the busyness of your life to connect meaningfully with yourself. I know we all need that time and space to breathe and reflect.
Through therapy you can experience growth, change and a sense of feeling more wholesome. There are different onsets that can make us question if therapy is right for us. This can sometimes look like a sense of stuckness, or feeling lost. It can also feel like we have lost touch of parts of ourselves that we are eager to find again. Does this sound familiar? Give therapy a try. We can talk about goals and expectations together.
Change can be uncomfortable which is why sometimes it is important to notice how things make us feel. Trying new things may make anxiety arise, as would anything that is transforming us.
My Approach
I am a Registered Psychotherapist and a registered yoga instructor (RYT-200) with Yoga Alliance and hold a 40hrs trauma-sensitive yoga training.
As an integrative therapist, I draw from various theories such as Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Attachment-based theories, Satir, parts work and mindfulness. I enjoy integrating breath work as well as building bodily awareness with my clients. My belief is that we hold our experiences and emotions in our bodies and through time we have learned to ignore or minimize what we inherently know about who we are. In turn, we start leaving parts of ourselves behind and grow further away from who we are meant to be. I tailor my approach to suit your therapy needs and goals.
I intend to work collaboratively with you and meet you where you are. My goal is to journey with you as you get closer to the more authentic you while exploring parts of yourself in relationships with yourself and others.
Why Yoga + Therapy?
I first started yoga as I wanted to try something different. I had been an avid gym goer as well as an athlete most of my life. I was first drawn to yoga while I was going through a difficult period in my life. Through the practice, I started to understand the power of breathwork. Yoga brought me clarity in actions I needed to take for myself. It reconnected me with the things I knew of myself with my mind, body, heart, and spirit.
I will be adding yoga to my offerings soon! Be the first to hear the announcement when I do.
What I Stand Behind
01
Transparency
It is important for you and I to be transparent in therapy in order to connect. I want you to feel informed in our therapeutic engagement, as well as the process of therapy. Understanding how I work as a therapist and which theories I am drawing from.
02
Authenticity
Identifying our core values can guide us to live authentically and stay true to ourselves. To share views openly and be honest with our feelings — it is essential for us to have trust in the process of therapy. It is the foundation of the therapeutic alliance.
03
Curiosity
The desire to get to know yourself more deeply. To understand, gain insights into yourself in different contexts. Curiosity brings an openness to therapy where it may seem less intimidating to dig deeper into yourself. It may open the door to understanding patterns, as well as cultivate compassion.
